Character Name: Kaitou, Jules
D.O.B: 10.22
Age: Seventeen

__________&letsknowmore.
Appearance: On first glance, one might notice that Jules has a nearly palpable “fuck off” sort of air about him: a trademark snarl, a low growl under his breath, and his hands shoved in his pockets as though he’s pissed off about everything and wants everyone to just sit down and die. With his eyes darkened into raccoon-like indents and hands clenched into perpetual fists, this boy has a hard time not letting his overall atmosphere of badassery overpower to the point where people don’t want to talk to him. This Snarl™ is specific to Jules Kaitou -- he fancies it an art form and tends to laugh at the people who try to mimic it… because they can’t pull it off like he can.
Possessing of a tall, willowy body structure, Jules stands at a mediocre 6’1”, weighing in at about 140 pounds. His limbs, arms especially, are long, lithe, and shaped by years of arduous outdoor activities and physical pastimes; the fingers of both hands have been made rough and callused through being both a drummer and a guitarist since juvenescence. Countenance-wise, Jules has sharp, almost angry-looking features that make him seem like if he were to smile, he’d shatter into a pile of Jules-colored shards.
Clothing Style: There isn’t really a specific style Jules sticks to -- he likes the Oshare-kei look, but will tend to cross over into kodona&punk on occasion. Since it’s hard to get a hold of the kind of clothes he’s into, this boy simply shuffles over to the nearest thrift store and cuts, stitches, glues, and pulls together until he’s entirely satisfied, occasionally fusing past outfits he’s grown tired of together to create an entirely new set; when he’s allowed to be profligate with whatever money he has at the time, he’ll order from his favorite overseas stores (h.NAOTO+Blood and Miho Matsuda are his favorite lines), but his meager pay holding odd jobs tends to infringe on his ability to splurge nowadays. There is no such thing as ‘business’ attire in the entirety of Jules’s expansive closet -- if he has to dress up for something, he’ll do it, but he won’t compromise his personal style.
Celeb/Model: Hiroto
Desired Cliques: You tell me.
Personality: First off, Jules can come off as somewhat of an asshole: he likes sticking to his, “I HATE EVERYONE SO LEAVE ME ALONE” sort of façade in favor of keeping his solitary persona intact. There is no better way to describe him than to liken him to a lone wolf: this law-school bound student likes his distance and his quiet and his solitude more than anything else, all chance at a social life be damned. Everything he does is done with the least amount of noise and evidence as possible, and he has a very, “Leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone” outlook on life. Around him seems to be a monochromatic cloud of pure, unadulterated neutral, developed probably when he was young as a way to keep people from getting in the way of his ambitions. Most people, he thinks, would just stir up discord if they were in his life any more than he lets them be, so it’s very rare that he ever actively tries to form social relationships with people he’s not forced to.
If one sticks around long enough to get past his innate anti-social tendencies, though, he has a very chivalrist attitude, and although it’s rare, it will manifest itself should he ever see anyone who needs assistance. Jules is dedicated to his chosen vocation -- music -- and will forgo everything else in the pursuit of success, which is partly to blame for his unwillingness to communicate with people. Perhaps his best trait is his ability to adapt -- he’ll retain formality in a professional environment, and he’ll get whatever job he needs to done, but past that, don’t expect him to be around for very long, and although he hates to admit it, he actually does enjoy company on a rare occasion. When these moods strike him (however seldom they are), Jules will go out to clubs he hasn’t gone to before and simply scope, initiate a conversation with a stranger he has no intention of ever seeing again, and then leaving, never to return to that particular place ever again. Using his esoteric, almost droll sense of humor, and latent inclination toward squeezing every particle of fun out of a situation, Jules probably could make friends if he wanted, but the fact remains that he doesn't, and refrains, so whatever virtues lie under his thick shield of pure mean are always covered.

History: Momoko Kaitou was married three times before settling down in Akibahara and birthing Gray Kaitou, so both Momoko and Sugino are rather old compared to the usual standards of parents. Quite in fact, Sugino was fifty-one when Jules was born, and this prompted the gradual increase of time devoted to the Kaitou children’s parents’ welfare as time went on. As the middle child, Jules found himself closer to his brother (of a three year age difference) and sister (of a year’s difference) than the rest of his family from adolescence, to the point where he found it hard to stay away from them for longer than absolutely necessary; because both Kaitou parents were weak and unable to participate actively in their children’s lives, all three were forced to turn the household into a functional one.
Gray Kaitou was perhaps the first role model Jules had. An avid musician and an aspiring author, the eldest Kaitou son worked hard to keep both Laine and Jules on the ‘straight and narrow,’ by forcefully monitoring their after school activities: a hard thing to do on the subsection of Japan’s capital, where crime was just as populous as the otaku-centric boutiques dotting the city. It is to him that Jules credits his disdain for the clandestine and his sister’s steadfast focus on her studies. It wasn’t until Jules was ten did they relocate, and the strain of the move caused a rift between Laine and their father: Laine stayed behind, much to Jules’s chagrin, in Akibahara, as an alternative to being forced to go through the entire school system change.
Jules and Gray adapted well enough, though, and went through middle school without much of a problem, despite that because of Laine’s loss, there were only two of them to attend to their parents. The three exchange letters often even now; Gray pushes hard for Laine’s return, using Jules’s need for emotional support as a bartering token. Jules is, unfortunately, currently the only one around the house long enough to deal with the gradual senility of Momoko and Sugino Kaitou, as Gray is usually out juggling between developing his career as a musician and his schoolwork at a local university, and he finds it hard to deal with their increasingly crotchety mannerisms and try to be a supportive son.
