__________outofcharacter.
Your Name: Call me Kamui, 'kay?
Age: 19
RP Experience: Well, I've been doing text-based RPs for a few years now, but as for RPGs in general, I've been doing those for almost 10 years now.
__________aboutyourcharacter.
Character Name:
Slate K. Draven
Nickname(s):
None really, as "Slate" isn't all that long.
D.O.B:
27 Sept 1987
Age:
19
Grade:
College, going into his third year
Orientation:
Heterosexual
__________&letsknowmore.
Appearance:
Not too tall, but not too short, he stands at a height of 5' 7". Weighing around 145/150-ish, he appears to be on the thinner side, but in fact possesses the lean muscle of a gymnast, or, in his case, a martial artist.
His eyes are a hazel-ish green color. His hair is black in color; it's a bit spiky, yet messy, and somewhat long, with no particular style... perhaps its lack of style is a style itself?
He has a scar on his left cheek.
Clothing Style:
Worn "skater" sneakers, baggy cargo pants, t-shirts, trenchcoats... that sorta stuff. Usually non-designer brands.
Celeb/Model:
Desired Clique:
None
Personality:
He's an INFP personality type, if anybody knows that term. An introvert. An idealist and a dreamer.
Intelligent and "wise beyond his years", as the saying goes, he is more mature then most others his age and as such rarely gives into the whole "teenage angst" thing. Always remaining level-headed and open-minded, he is somewhat reserved, usually presenting a calm, relaxed face to the world, no matter what he's feeling on the inside.
He is a compassionate, empathetic soul, sensitive and in-tune with the feelings of others, yet reserved about expressing his own inner-most feelings.
Overall, he's an easygoing, laid-back kind of dude, but diligent when he needs to be. Not afraid to go with the flow or to stop and smell the roses, he's neither a leader nor a follower.
Likes/Dislikes:
(likes) Peace, love, an' laughter, rainy days. He's also quite fond of pasta.
(dislikes) Undue drama/angst, narrow-mindedness/shallow-mindedness.
Hobbies/Interests:
Martial arts/Asian culture, playing console RPGs or D&D, reading, anthropology/linguistics, philosophy/religion, the supernatural.
__________&anythingelse.
History:
Born in New England, he is the eldest of his siblings, having a sixteen year old brother, Dean, and a nine year old sister, Brianna. Simply put, Slate's family isn't rich or famous. No, his mother works with elderly people and his father is a firefighter. They generally got by well enough though.
His mother, a casual practitioner of shôtôkan-ryû karate, signed Slate and his brother up for lessons at the age of 10, his brother being 9 at the time. Their sister wasn't born yet, but in time she too was signed up for lessons.
Like any little kids, Dean and Brianna were excited about the lessons at first, but quickly became disenchanted, moving onto other things. Slate, on the other hand, took a great interest in the martial arts, beginning the pursue them in earnest.
When Slate was 14 his mother and father split up, and he, along with his siblings, moved with their mother to Florida, who wanted a fresh start in an entirely new state. More specifically, they moved to Boca Raton, a small city about an hour's drive from Miami.
Slate threw himself into his martial arts training and school studies with a new resolve, so that he would not have time to be depressed over his parent's breakup.
It was around then that he began entering local martial arts competitions. After some minor victories, he moved up to larger scale competitions. Though he took his fair share of losses, he began to earn something of a name for himself in the martial arts world. It was in one of these larger scale competitions that he won a scholarship to Miami University.
Transferring from a local college, at which he already completed two years, he recently moved into the university dorms, eager to start his third year of higher education.
Family: Robert Draven (Father, 45); Cynthia Draven (Mother, 42); Dean (Brother, 16); Brianna (Sister, 9)
Anything Else:
Though his family isn't rich, Slate himself has won a fair amount of money from his fighting career, even if he doesn't flaunt it.
